Let's Get Mobile

Mobile phones are now part of our lives where we can use them anytime, anyplace, anyhere. The 'anytime, anyplace, anywhere' slogan does not always work due to restrictions that are in place. In hospitals we are not allowed to use mobile phones as they interfere with the hosipital equipment. In garages mobiles should be turned off when in the forecourt just like when we come into classrooms.

Before we start learning about how to use mobile phones constructively, let's find out what we know about mobile phones at the present. How young do you think you should be before you have a mobile phone? How much should you pay for a mobile phone? What devices do you want on a mobile phone? Where should you be allowed to use them?

These are just a few questions given to the L7 children who are exploring the potential of mobile phones.

I think you should be allowed mobile phones in class. The mobiles could be used for writing talks and reports instead of a computer. The pupils would be able to type faster on the phones than using the computer. They could also be used to remind pupils about music lessons they have during shcool. The pupils could use the stopwatch for sports.

I think children should be alowd mobile phones in school.children could use them as homework orgnisers they could bluetooth things from the teachers computer to there phone. children could use them for quota by recording what the teachers say and when they get home the children could play the recording.

I think mobile phones are a good idea to have in class because you could use them as a calculater or to record something by pictures and would be good to educate pupils using mobile phones. Most people think that mobiles are bad but, if we use them correctly then they could be good.

I think you should be allowed a moblie phone because while you're older you would need something to help you, in a shop if you don't know what a total is then you can use a calculator or if you need to remmember something important like someone's birthday party then you can use an organiser.

i think phones have a posotive and negative side. But more posotive than negative .Phones can be used eductionaly ,like if in science you are growing a plant and you want to record the growth. You could use your phone as a calaculator or if you forgety your field kit the you could phone your mum or dad.

I think mobile phones are good for learning because they can help you in lots of different subjects like maths because most mobile phones have calculators some mobiles have internet on them. Some people don't agree with them though because you can get bullied and some parents don't like them because their children spend all night on them and mone when they have to get of them.

I think children should get to use mobile phones in school and in nursery from three and onwards and use them in classes to help them in their work. If you can text faster than you can type why not use them? It's a possibility that children could learn a lot more from phones then any other electronics allowed in schools. In case of emergency on a outing it can be important to have a mobile phone at whatever age to contact someone.

I think that mobile phones in the long run have a positive effect. Obviously, they do also have a negative side(e.g cyber bullying)but if you think about it, many people couldn't get through life without a mobile phone. I think children should have a mobile phone when they think the age is right because that should teach children how to use phones to the right effect. I think children should have a mobile phone at any age if they really need to, but obviously not when they're 6 months old! Mobile phones also have educational uses such as timers, video recorders and voice recorders. I also think there should belarge bans for people who are caught using their phone improperly, although this is hard as they cannot be traced. My view is that mobile phones are positive.

I think children should be alowed to use mobile phones in school and out of school. With all the technoligy that progressing in mobil phones these days, they could become a great learnig source. Children should be introduced to mobile phones at a young age to help them when they are older and what if they find themselves in a sticky situation with no mobile phone it could be very dangerous. Mobile phones are the future they could be used in schools across the world. In constructive ways mobile phones can be used in a bad way but if their were stricked rules about what you can do with your phone then they could be safe for everyone to use. If every one used their mobile phone to its full ability it cou really change education for the best.

i think little children should be aloud to use moblie phones if they treat them with respect because it will help them later in life and it is a good way for there parents to keep in touch but if they don't put them t good use then they should wait until they nare a bit older and more responsible

I think little children should be aloud to use mobile phones because it will help them later on in life and it is fun for them as well.If they get into trouble they can phone their parents.Though they must look after their mobile phones.

I think that you should get a mobile phone when you are about nine to ten years old.You should get that phone for about thirty to fifty pounds. But younger children should not get phones i think incase they take a picture of them
self and send it to someone.

I think that young children shouldn't have mobile phones because they could phone 999 or take a picture of themselves without knowing and then send it to some random guy who is a pedefile or a pervert. Also, children at a young age shouldn't have any reason to call people.
A young child might forget the PIN code and will accidentally lock him/herself out of his/her phone.Young children might go onto WAP or GPRS and waste a lot of money.

I think that children at the age of eight should be allowed mobile phones . Also if they are in the park along the road and they get hurt then they might have to contact home to tell their parent or gardian if they need help.

I think that children that young shouldn't have a mobile phone because they can just leave it somewhere and someone else can see their house number. They could just take a picture of themselves and send it on bluetooth without even knowing. Mobile phones are quite expensive and some are easily broken. Children dont need mobile phones because there parents might have one. Sadik L7

I think that young children should have mobile phones without any money in them so they can't take a picture then send it to someone. They shouldn't need money anyway because who would they call? They don't have a reason to call anyone. A mobile phone can be used as a toy. If it brakes then are all their other toys in perfect condition.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that children that young should be allowed mobile phones. mobile phones cost a lot and children that young don't need to use mobile phones for anything apart from just playing whith them. Little kids often break or lose their toys so what is the point of giving them a phone when they don't need it and could break it because you would just have to buy them another one and who's to say they won't break that one aswell. I think children should be allowed mobile phones at that age.I think this because if the child is badly hurt and their mum and dad is somewhere else at the time, the child could phone and tell them. Also it means the child can learn the the basics of a mobile phone and still have fun.

I don't think children under eight should be allowed mobile phones because they would be likely to leave their mobile somewhere and forget about it. They also may drop it and break it and little children may put it in water. It is said that mobiles are dangerous little children may accedently phone some stranger and talk to them or send a photo to someone. They also could phone the emergency services.

I don't think children under a certain age should be allowed to use a mobile phone. What if they phone the police with out knowing who they are phoning. Plus there is no need to have a mobile phone at a young age. There is no point of having a mobile phone until Primary Six and Primary Seven. If y
you are young there is no point in having a mobile phone because you need a mobile phone to phone people not play on it. They might phone a stranger and give the stranger their personal details.

I think you should be a law that children should be seven or up can have amobile phone. It is sort of dangerous for small children to have mobile phones because they might have bluetooth on and some person next to the child might send something nasty to them.Young children don't need aphone at school because the school should have a phone. They might always be on their mobile phone than doing something different.

i thiink children that young should be allowed to have mobiles . Children can have fun with them playing all the games. Cildren also enjoy pressing all the buttons. The children dont have to have a sim card in thier phone they will still enjoy playing with them. Some children might have a sim card in thier phones to speek to thier mum or dad. Cildren will make mistakes on thier mobile phone but will learn from them. Katie L7.

I dont think she should have a mobile at that age because they do not need it.Also what if they phone a number that they do not know it could be anyone and they could give out personal details like where they live and what there name is or they might even phone the police then if they go to that house then because it is a false alarm they might put another persons life in danger. If you have occupied the police.the other thing is if you send a peice of video or picture then they could accidently send to a stranger.I also think that they dont need it because they do not really need to contact anyone aprt from their parents.

I think you should not have a mobile phone until you are at a responsible age.Because younger children could take a picture of themselves and accidently send it too a person who they do not know.Another is children may phone a number like 999 and then the parents may be fined.I think it is ok for younger children if there is no simcard in the phone. gordon L7

I think that girl should have a phone because it increases there knowledge and will help them through school and early teens. It might effect there job and life.keir l7.

Ithink mobile phones are ok for children to play whith so long as if it got brocken it wouldn't annoy annyone.Idon't think there should be a sim card in the phone incase they dield 999.

I think that mobile phones are ok from an early age but children should only have an old phone that is not going to upset anyone if they break them or maybe without a sim card so they can't do any bad things. On the other hand it is not that good for small children to have mobile phones because they might take a picture and send in to someone and then the person could find out some personal things about the person who sent the message.

I think mobile phones should be given to younger children to allow them to play about with them and to discover new things on a phone but they should be supervised by an adult at all times. Children should not be given a mobile phone if it is to be used inapropriatly such as destruction and misuse of the gadget.Adam L7

I think that children who are under the age of 8 should not be allowed mobile phones because they could accedently take a photo and send it to someone they don't know. They could also dammage it and it might be needed in an emergancy or something like that.

I think you should have a mobil phone when you are young because when you are young you learn by playing like if you are older and you read every thing about something and then you actualy try it you will find it hard.

Anonymous said...

I think that anyone should be aloud a mobile phone, whatever age you are. I think that Younger children should be able to play with them. They could have really old phones with no simcard so they could pretend to phone people or text them and it may become easier for them later on, if they get a mobile.

I think you should not have a mobile phone with a sim card at such a young age because you'll end up clicking random buttons. Also end up doing something really wrong like calling 999 or taking a picture of yourself and sending it to a random number. But I think it would be good without a sim card because you would be able to play with it without making any mistakes

I don't think you should have a mobile phone when you are
young because you could accidently
call or send a picture to someome.
They might easily lose their mobile or misplace it.
Other young children might want a phone if they see their friend playing on their mobile phone, and their parents might not want them to have a mobile.

In my opinion I think that children as young as primary one or below should not have a mobile with a sim card in it. The reason why is because the child may call unknown numbers, text inapproriate messages and download softwares that may be costly. However I do agree that a younger child could play about with a mobile that does not have sim card nor is top of the range as it's important to find out how to use technology at any age. I think an appropriate age to start using a mobile with a sim card should be around ten as that is an age when you should use a mobile properly and may need to contact parents for emergancies and friends and will let you learn about technology with a nonstationary piece of equipment. Although not all children will be able to use a mobile in a appropriate way at this age I think a mobile will help them learning.

I think that are younger than the age of seven should not have mobile phone because they are iresponsible and if they get bored with it they will probably leave it somewhere and if they have at pet it might break it up and eat something inside it and will get very ill.Or if it does not do what they want it to they could break it and they could pick up something from the inside and do something bad with it. They could give it to someone and the phone might have a sim card in it because the little one might have picked it up of the kitchen table and it belonged to their mum so the person they give it to now has all the phone numbers and presonal details. So that is why I do not think children under seven should not have mobile phones

I think that young children should be allowed to have mobile phones because having a mobile phone could teach them about responsibility and looking after their things.Having a mobile phone might also teach them valuable technology skills.
I think children shouldn't be given mobile phones at any particular age but should be given mobile phones when they can be trusted and know how to use them.

I think it would be fine for the little girl to have the mobile aslong as it didn't have a sim card so she wouldn't call anybody and anyway all she would is pretend to be calling someone and hold it up to her ear.

I think the age limit for mobile phones with a sim card in it would be maybe 8 or 9 so they aren't too old but they aren't that young so they won't phone people by accident not knowing what they're doing.

Anonymous said...

I think she should'nt have a phone because she is only young so an adult will be with her at most times. and see would'nt know how to use it as see is only young.

Anonymous said...

I think the little girl should be able to play with a mobile phone because it doesn't matter if she brokr it or not because the parrents would be checking on her .I think the age limit for when you get a phone is about 8 years old.

Anonymous said...

I think a young person should not have a mobile phone because they could get adicted to it and loose contact with people or more important things.I think the age limit for a mobile phone should be 8 years old.

I THINK THE LITTLE GIRL SHOULD HAVE A MOBILE PHONE TO PLAY WITH BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO HAVE A REAL ONE.THE PHONE MIGHT NOT HAVE A SIM CARD IN IT.

Anonymous said...

I think that it is ok to have a phone but there should not be a sim card in it incase she typed some number and called it. I think you should be 12 to be aloud a mobile with a sim card and have money in it.

Anonymous said...

I think the girl could have a phone but with no SIM card. The age for being allowed a phone with SIM card is 8.

I think a little girl should noy be allowed to a have a mobile phone, because she does not need to use one and it is not good for someone that young to have one.She could maybe get one without a sim card, but I think the age limit for a mobile phone should be 10.

I think that some one who's 2 should not be aloud a phone even if it dousn't not have a sim card, if it is expensive sell it on ebbay.
I think you should be 9 to have a phone.
