What A Day

Today was packed with lots of things to see. Our first stop was Montmartre which rises out of the flatness of Paris with its myriad of small streets which have been both homes and studios to a preponderance of the west's great 19th and 20th century artists from Degas to Monet and Picasso to Dali. At Montmartre we visited the Sacre Couer with had magnificent features inside and out. Next to Montmartre's new art market centres on Place du Tertre where “starving” unknowns offer paintings for sale. Many children had their portriats done which I am sure you will all be looking forward to seeing. You can decide if the picture is a caricature or the real thing!

Next we hopped on the bus and were taken to the Eiffel Tower. Before taken the journey up the tower we ate lunch first then start ascending the magnificent tower. The children loved the journey in the lifts with many squeals of delight being heard.

After the Eiffel Tower it was straight down to river for our boat trip on the Sienne. The scenery was fantastic with the added excitement of a pigeon inside the boat!!

It was back to the hotel for tea then the creme de la creme - a tour of Paris by night. Out commentator delighted us with his witty lines and endless information.

Lights out when we came back as DISNEY tomorrow.

Mrs Tonner

PS - some teachers on coach 2 have a very sweet teeth!!!

Sacre Coeur's interior contains one of the worlds largest mosaics which depicts Christ with outstreched arms. It was beautiful and candles were lit inside. Kirsty

The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel and is 324 m high! It weighs 7,300 tons there are also 1,665 steps. It was constructed in 1889. I really enjoyed going up the Eiffel Tower because it was really tall and I am not afraid of heights.

The Eiffel Tower is in fact the most well known world monument within europe coming in at about three hundred metres tall .Between a period of 1889 and 2004 over 200 million tourists have visited the Eiffel Tower.I personally think that it is an amazing structure that looks reasonably small when you are on the ground but when you are up there for real it is easily the best way of seeing all of Paris

The Eiffel tower is 117 years old,
Took two years two months and five years to build and has 2,500,000 rivets and weighs 10,100 tons
When I went up the tower the view from the top was spectacular and you could see for miles. And you could see the bus and it looked just like a sheet of paper

The Eiffel Tower was finnished in 1889 it was meant to be a Universal Exhibition and Centenial of the French Revolution.
I found that the Eiffel Tower was much bigger and more interesting than I thought it would be.

Did you know the Eiffel Tower is the most visited monument in the world and that it weighs 7,300 tons.

When I was at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower I was quite frightened about how tall it was going to be. When I got up there I saw an amazing view it was like you could see the whole of Paris.

The Sacre Couer's first stone was layed in 1875. I really like the Sacre Couer because it is so vast, and it has so much detail. When i went inside i started to wonder how they managed to paint the building because the roof was so high!

You can see most of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Sacre Coeur is a famous landmark atop the Montmartre, from which it dominates the city. Behind its tall dome rises a bell tower 276 ft (84 m) high.It was designed by the architect Paul Abadie, the basilica is a huge and harmonious edifice in the Byzantine-Romanesque style.I thought the Sacre Coeur was magnificent! When we went inside there were people praying and making wishes to a candle. The worst bit about Sacre Coeur is when you have gone up all the steps and when you are about to enter you get really tired after going up all those steps.

Sacre Coeur, or Sacred Heart, is a beautiful Roman Catholic church. It contains one of the world's largest mosaics which features Jesus with outstretched arms. The building itself was designed by Paul Abadie. The building work was started in 1875, although not completed until 1914. Before Sacre Coeur was built, Montmatre (the place where Sacre Coeur is now), was a small farming village.
I liked Sacre Coeur because it was so beautiful, inside and out and also because it has so much history to it.

The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel and named after him. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. It took two years, two months and five days to build. My favourite part of the Paris trip was the swimming at the Aqua Boulevard and Disneyland. I also liked the Science Centre because their were real mice (one of them kept doing back flips on its friend).
